If you’re a Nintendo Switch owner, chances are you have a pretty hefty library of games. And rightly so — the console is stuffed full of quality titles meant for grown-up gamers as well as its more family friendly fare like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Unlike the previous generation, the Switch is home to a surprisingly mature collection of games that challenge both the mind and the body. Whether it’s the thumping metal-meets-futuristic anime action of Astral Chain or the fiendish language-based puzzles of Heaven’s Vault, the Switch is a gaming powerhouse that doesn’t shy away from tougher challenges.

There’s also a whole host of games that show off the platformer’s innate ability to provide some of the most satisfying, high-quality gameplay around. Cuphead, for example, offers up airtight bullet-hell 2D sidescrolling action paired with delightful jazz music and 1930s-inspired hand-drawn visuals that look straight out of a Disney cartoon. Celeste offers a similarly engrossing challenge for players who are willing to put in the time and effort.

For those who want a more traditional experience, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is a masterful reimagining of the 1993 Game Boy classic that manages to retain all the charm of the original while adding new layers of depth. It’s a must-have for any Nintendo Switch owner.

And finally, of course, every Nintendo Switch owner should have the incredibly popular and highly-acclaimed Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp at their disposal. The portable edition of the beloved RPG is an absolute joy to play, offering up a world of exploration and discovery that feels entirely fresh thanks to a smartly updated art style and a more streamlined gameplay experience.

With 2023 still a year or two out, there’s plenty of potential for more big-name Switch releases to make an impact. From a new Zelda adventure to the first proper Pokemon open world game, here are some of the biggest games we expect to see on the platform in the future.

1. Super Smash Bros Ultimate

It’s almost impossible to think of the Nintendo Switch without immediately thinking of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. It’s the perfect title to demonstrate the platform’s potential for bringing friends together and letting them enjoy a wide variety of fun and challenging multiplayer experiences. There’s the unmissable nostalgia of revisiting some of the most iconic characters from Nintendo’s past, as well as the sheer joy of waging war against your closest friends online or in local co-op.
