Whether you’re already an established fan of the LEGO Marvel range or just starting out, 76285 Spider man mask is a satisfying build. As usual, you begin with the base and then gradually layer on elements until you’re finished.

The main thing that stands out here is the mask itself which looks incredibly lifelike. It’s a mix of printed shell pieces with hinge bricks for slight angles and black 1×1 round bricks for the eyes. These are then framed by white 3×3 curved slope bricks which makes the eyes really stand out.

Other than the mask, the rest of the suit is pretty basic. There’s a red and black pattern on the torso that extends to the arms and boots, and external web-shooters. There’s also a yellow utility belt and a gun holster on the right leg.

Miles Morales’ Spider man costume had a different design when he bonded with the Venom symbiote. He didn’t get a new suit but kept his normal one, which had no lines on the arms and torso, red gloves and boots and a green mask with two black circles for eyes.

The only downside to the set is that the printed web patterns can be tricky to apply accurately. If you want to do them neatly, it’s a good idea to look for a reference photo of Spider man online or in a comic book first and sketch out the webs with pencil then erasing and adjusting until they’re just right.
